Larry Graham interview, last days quote
by neat blue dog inwe all know stephen lett's infamous quote that we're living in "the final part of the final part of the last days!
shortly before the last day of the last days.".
well, there is an interesting interview with larry graham and his family that has a variant on this, where he says that we're living in "the last of the last of the last days".

Well, there is an interesting interview with Larry Graham and his family that has a variant on this, where he says that we're living in "the last of the last of the last days". Then he goes on to say that "this system is just about over, it's had it", and that only "precious hours" remain . . . So don't pursue a career like he did he recommends! (Even though he is reaping the benefits and never had to work again.)
Keep in mind this was recorded in the '80s, going on 40 years ago đ

How long did it take before you realized that you missed the obvious?
by pistolpete inremember when the public speaker in the kingdom hall or convention related the ten plagues and the parting of the red sea?.
the finale when jehovah closes the red sea and swallows pharaoh's entire army of egyptian men.. when i was a little kid about 5 years old and listened to this story, i would think---wow jehovah is strong.
when i started school and started learning compassion as early as the first grade i started wondering?????.

Eh, not a good point. Egyptians were among those who joined the Israelites right before this, so any JW would tell you they had a chance. Even in modern wars, tough decisions have to be made like dropping the bomb on Japan, to ultimately save far more lives.

'Pop Cult'?
by LoveUniHateExams ininteresting little video from a youtuber called david stewart.. he puts forward an interesting idea that fan following around films and music is comparable to people being in a cult.. stewart is a film reviewer among other things, putting out several videos critiquing the force awakens (2015) and receiving lots of abuse and even death threats.. enjoy âŚ.

Yeah, and some will say others aren't "real fans" just like JWs will say others aren't "true Christians" đ -

JW Online University
by Tim207 ini have a family member who is a remote bethelite and they are working on creating content for online "university" for bethelites to teach them skills that are needed at bethel.
from what i've seen it is a lot of recorded content saved on their sharepoint sites.
i haven't seen any information on this from this site or reddit which i'm more active on.

Interesting, though not surprising at this point. Their own version of BYU . . . JRU đ (Brigham Young=Joseph Rutherford, both second presidents after a organizational control crisis.)

It happened in my congregation with a suicide threat, no judicial action taken. Not sure about a lawsuit threat.

Did Jesus Have a Dog?
Evidently, he did not. In these last days, many put undue emphasis on things like pets, in effect worshipping them. The Awake! magazine of 1/22, 1976, in the article "Enjoy Pets- IN THEIR PLACE!" says that some have given their animals . . .
gold bracelets, black lace panties, evening gowns and birthday parties . . . They have obtained clip-on diapers for their parrakeets, false eyelashes for their poodles and sunglasses for vacationing pets.
The article also mentions that a pet owner might . . .
permit himself to be âkissedâ by a pet that had recently been licking its sexual and anal areas
Surely such actions are unbecoming of a mature christian.

False memorial partakers deserve to die???
by Jofi_Wofo inevery memorial, much emphasis is placed on making sure that only the (self-proclaimed) anointed partake in the emblems.
this year, however, the speaker at my wife's congregation presented it as an even more serious matter.
he likened it to individuals in ancient israel who sought position of the priesthood despite never been appointed by jehovah.

Methinks he's a little rogue. My talk said the exact opposite, that we shouldn't judge any who choose to "partake".

Would the world be a better place without religion?
by pistolpete ini know what youâre gonna say---------everyone has a right to believe whatever they want.. but the question above is not about everyoneâs right to believe whatever.. the question is very specific------will the world be a better place----without religion.
think for a while what the world would be like without any religion.. no conflicts between islam and christianity.. no conflicts between different sects of christianity.
(example; jehovahâs witnesses vs catholics).

Even the irreligious manage to channel their worship into organized fervor and oppression of others based on the conniving of a few and the faith of their masses. This is happening right now with things such as race relations and climate change.
